Every parent wants the best health insurance for their family. Every employer would like to offer excellent insurance coverage to their employees as a benefit. But how can the average person or employer do a health insurance comparison? They could sit down and go through the phone book and start calling all of the insurance companies for quotes. But how long would that take? And even if you could do it how would you know if you were comparing apples to apples. All quotes are not created equal.

Technology has made life a lot easier for us in many ways. What if there was a company that had YOUR best interest in mind. One that knew all about the insurance companies, what to look for and how they compare. One that would do your health insurance comparison for you. One that knew all about individual, family, short-term, student, dental, group, business, and vision insurance plans.

Well there is and your life just got a whole lot easier! We highly recommend eHealthInsurance. They have been in business since 1997. They are America’s number one source for your health insurance needs. They represent over 180 health insurance companies and over 10,000 plans! Do a health insurance comparison for over 180 companies and see how long it will take you. Over 1 million people have trusted eHealthInsurance to do their health insurance comparison for them. Shouldn’t you?

From their web site you can get quotes, compare plans and even apply right online. They also have personal expert advice, easy comparison tools, best selection and prices, and approval right online. Some jobs call for a pro, and health insurance comparison is one of them!

There is too much at stake. There are too many scam artists. Don’t be taken in by your local insurance sales person that only sells a few plans for an even smaller number of companies. Put the power of technology and the knowledge and experience of eHealthInsurance to work for you. Get the most for your health insurance dollars.

Take a look at the best way to do a health insurance comparison. You have nothing to lose and absolutely everything to gain. Aren’t the people that are counting on you worth it?

Here is where you can get started right now:

Health Care Reform: Who’s looking out for you?

I really debated about whether to talk about this, but we really need to think about it and take action.

Government run health care? When was the last time the government ran anything that was successful? Sounds like something else that can go bad at the expense of who? The taxpayer of course.

Let’s look at an oldie, but a goodie. Social Security. Run by the government. I have been an unwilling paying member all of my life. I have always worked and I have always paid. But when I retire, will I get anything? The jury is still out. Maybe, maybe not.

My representative and congressman will get their retirement, no problem. Of course they have a different plan than you and I. Wonder who came up with that?

Health care run by the government. Will your representative and senator be on the same plan? Not. Where is the incentive to make sure that it is a good plan? Who cares? Who is the biggest loser? The taxpayer, as always.

Everyone is sending emails to make changes. If you send an email to 10 of your friends, it will change nothing. Take the time to write to your government officials. Demand that we all have the same plan. If they have it, they will make sure that it is a better plan! As a matter of fact I read a good plan for Health Care Reform the other day. It said that the President, Senators, and Representatives should all be on the proposed plan first. And then if they like it they can sell it to us. That is ingenious! That would be the perfect incentive for them to make sure it is a plan that will work and be fair for everyone!

Today it is easy. No stamps and no going to the post office. (Oh yes, run by the government and they are in trouble too!).

And to make it even easy for you here is the contact information:

Find your Senator: United States Senate

Find your Representative: House of Representatives

The people that make the decisions that affect your life are no better than you. As a matter of fact they were elected by you to have your best interest in mind. Let them know what you think about Health Care Reform!

A company always has the responsibility of caring for their employees and to make sure that they are safe and secure in the workplace. The small business owner should make it a priority to enroll their employees in a group health insurance plan. Companies, especially where high risk activities are involved, are required to provide their employees with basic insurance coverage at a minimum.

Small business group health insurance plans were designed to cover a business with 50 or less employees. The definition will vary from state to state, and some even have 2 employees as a minimum. Normally small business group health insurance plans are renewed annually and automatically. There are several reasons that this might not happen. They could include the employer not making the premium payments, the employer is guilty of fraud and or other misrepresentations, or the employer simply did not comply with the terms of the contract. Some insurance companies may look back six to twelve months of an employees health history and may decide not to cover certain conditions because of pre-existing problems.

Premium rates are determined in two ways, the medical underwriting and the modified community rating. Medically underwritten small group plans require the employees to give their health history as well as that of their dependents. The company checks the information and if the company fails to get information that will accurately explain the risk or condition of the applicant, the application is noted as negative. Community rating charges all individuals living in the same geographical area the same contribution regardless of health or status. Modified community rating rates applicants based on limited factors like age and gender.

Small business group health insurance covers the basic emergency and routine medical costs. It may also cover extended care such as hospital and rehabilitation. And some may even cover employee dependents, while others don’t. Therefore the best deals in group insurance are those which offer coverage to your employees dependents. Some even cover vision, dental, and, mental health care.

Group health insurance plans are generally cheaper, but may have more restrictions. Some plans have an approved list of doctors. They can also generate a more intensive health and safety campaign on the part of the employer so as to avoid unwanted accidents or injuries. Ideally, group health insurance is considered a major perk when working for a company. The employees contributions are deducted automatically, which is much easier for the employee.

Employers should make sure to check all possible options in your health plan. They should be able to maximize the benefit costs and at the same time, allow their employees to choose the plan which is perfect for their needs. It should offer a wide selection of life and dental services as well as preventive health services. There are small business group health plans with a network health care providers. In this case, members are recommended to any of the providers belonging in this network. If they need to consult with a non-network provider, they need to make sure that their plan allows for this. Drug benefits are another thing that should be checked. As most medical expenses go to the drugs, the make sure that their plan has an extensive coverage of the drugs they will pay for.

The employer who will be offering a group health insurance plan needs to make sure that the following information is available:

the company’s inception date

copies of existing insurance policies and claims

employees’ names

employees’ gender

employees’ zip code

employees’ and their families birth dates

It is also wise to note that if one of the employees is a dependent of his/her spouse’s insurance plan, he/she may not want to be part of the group health plan. That is because most insurance companies require 100% coverage of all employees, especially for small businesses.

Children will always get sick. There are many opportunities for this to happen. They play in the dirt and share germs with other children in many ways. And your responsibility as a parent is to see that the chances are lessened by keeping them as clean and germ free as possible and by making sure that they have regular visits to the pediatrician. You must also followup up any instructions that the pediatrician gives you.

Since we know that children will get sick and that we must care for them, we must have a sound financial plan. And that would be health insurance. Whether it be part of your health insurance plan from work, or your family health insurance plan. If we do not have a health insurance plan, we may not be able to insure their health and care. We may not have the funds to acquire the medical attention that is needed.

The good news is that with the competition in the health insurance market, the rates are lower. The bad news is there are many more choices. And there are scam artists as well. This makes it hard but not impossible for you to get affordable health insurance for your children. You will just have to do the research to get the most coverage for the lowest rate.

Make sure that you know what the needs of your children are. And they will all surely need regular checkups, so make sure that is included.

Look for “affordable health insurance for children” in your favorite search engine on the internet. You will be amazed by the results. Many will offer free quotes for you to use in comparison shopping.

Also check for any discounts that you may be eligible for. For instance if you have low income, you may qualify for a Medicaid program sponsored by the government. These may vary by state, so make sure that you check.

A parent has a responsibility of taking care of their childrens health. Health insurance would have to be a part of the plan. And there is affordable health insurance out there for your children, but you will have the responsibility of acquiring the plan with the most coverage for the lowest rate. And the internet has made your job much easier.

Health insurance can protect you when illness or injury prevents you from working or results in an expensive medical bill. Having coverage is very important for individual people and for families. That’s why getting turned down for health insurance can get be frustrating and frightening. You may begin to wonder what you are going to do. Often, we can’t pay the medical bills if no one is there to help us. Let’s look at some facts.

You’ve been turned down for health insurance.

Chances are that if you’ve been turned down for health insurance, it’s because you have a pre-existing health condition or you have an unhealthy lifestyle, including smoking, excessive drinking, or poor eating habits. Health insurers are out to make money. So, chances are that if you have a serious medical condition, you won’t find health insurance coverage easily.

Alternatives if you have been turned down for health insurance.

If you’re worried, don’t be. There is a way to get health insurance coverage even if you have been turned down before. You can access a “High Risk Pool” for health insurance.

“High Risk Pools”

Before you can be accepted into a “High Risk Pool” for health insurance, you have to meet the following conditions:

A person would have to be turned down by one or more health insurance companies and be able to show proof that they were turned down.

If a person has a health insurance plan, they must prove they are receiving a higher premium because of their illness

A person must be a resident of the state where they are seeking medical insurance. Some states offer reciprocity which means that if a person moves to another state that participates in reciprocity also, the benefits may transfer from one state to the next.

Most people who are eligible for Medicare or Medicaid will not be able to enter into the ‘pool’. Some states have become more lenient, however.

Some states do exclude certain medical conditions.

So being turned down for health insurance is a set back, but certainly not the end of the world. It will just mean some more work for you in securing a health insurance plan that you can afford and that will cover you until perhaps your situation changes.

Supplemental health insurance plans can help protect you in ways that you’re your main health insurance plan cannot. It may be important to add this type of coverage to your health insurance for pre-existing medical conditions or to cover prescription medication.

What are supplemental health insurance plans?

Supplemental health insurance is a plan that you purchase in addition to your regular health insurance. It helps to protect you in ways your current health insurance cannot. This can include prescription medication or extra coverage during times when you are unable to work. It not normally needed in the way regular health insurance is. It is merely an extra way to protect yourself in emergencies.

How much do supplemental health plans cost?

Supplemental health insurance can be affordable for people with group insurance plans, however it can be quite expensive for people with individual health insurance. It is up to you to decide whether or not the expense is worth it.

What do supplemental health plans cover?

Supplemental health insurance often covers the following areas:

covers an extended stay in a hospital

covers certain diseases

pays off bills in case you are unable to work for a few weeks

accidental death

How do I know if I need a supplemental health insurance plan?

If you are unsure whether or not supplemental insurance is right for you or your family, you should make a list of all the reasons you might want to consider it. If you can’t think of any, phone a provider and ask questions.

You should also ask the provider of your primary health insurance plan if a supplemental health insurance plan is right for you. But keep in mind that they are in the business of selling health insurance, so if they recommend it, ask why. Make sure that the reason or reasons that they give you make good financial sense.

Actually most people should not need supplemental health insurance plans, but it is better to know if you do before you would actually need it. Make sure that you know what your present health insurance plan covers and what your future needs may be. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

The hardest part about choosing good health insurance is knowing what the important issues are and what questions to ask yourself and insurers. Let’s take a look at some to be sure that you get the best possible coverage at the lowest possible rate.

Questions to ask yourself when choosing health insurance

To determine the coverage you will need, ask yourself the following questions:

What do I need from my health care plan?

How long will I need this coverage?

Can I increase or decrease my coverage at any time?

Will all of my dependents be covered under the plan?

What is the most I can afford to pay per month?

What other alternative do I have to individual health insurance?

What benefits are offered through the plan?

Will my premiums increase?

Can coverage be terminated at any time?

Questions to ask Insurers when choosing health insurance

Sometimes it can be intimidating talking to professionals and it can be even more intimidating and frustrating if you think they are trying to sell you health insurance without all the facts. Here is a list of important questions to ask health insurers before choosing your health insurance.

What coverage is offered?

What coverage is not-offered?

What extra coverage can be added?

What about prescriptions?

Is there are network of approved medical care professionals?

Are there any penalties?

Can the plan be canceled?

Choosing health insurance is a very important job. As with anything in life you must have a good plan. When health insurance is needed it will be too late. You must have everything set up before disaster strikes. It is something that we do not like to think about, but you just never know what come happen to you or someone in yor family.

Health emergencies and accidents have ruined some people financially. Don’t put all of your plans for the future at risk.

Being self employed means that you have to do a lot of things yourself, which includes purchasing health insurance. Here are some quick points about purchasing health insurance for the self employed.

Where to look

Those who are self employed and looking for health insurance should turn to the following when searching for health insurance: Internet searches, associations with groups that offer coverage plans, local insurance agents, university health insurance, spouses’ health insurance plan and COBRA.

Things to consider

When you are looking for individual health insurance coverage, it is best to consider the type of coverage offered, as well as the limitations of the plan and whether or not you can cancel early if you are not satisfied.

Lowering the cost

There are a few ways to lower the cost of health insurance plans for individuals. One way is to choose a physician included in your plans coverage network, even if you already have a family physician. Also, you can choose to limit or expand your coverage in various ways, or you can purchase a plan that has a high deductible and a low monthly cost. Or, consider purchasing health insurance Online.

Being self employed is a great thing. But being self employed with no health insurance is not. Make sure that planning to be self employed includes planning for the proper health insurance coverage. Without it you will be putting your business at risk if something were to happen.

Why is health insurance important?

Whether you are caring for yourself or a family, health insurance can save you unneeded stress and cost when an unexpected illness or injury arises. Let’s take a look at the reasons why everyone should have health insurance.

Rising costs

It is becoming more and more costly every day to visit doctors, receive treatment and obtain prescriptions. A good health insurance plan can help take the sting out of unexpected illness or injury and the expense, too.

Coverage

Health insurance covers a wide array of illness and injury, including allergies, prescription drugs, preventative care, OB/GYN, wellness, hospital stays, animal attacks, sports injuries, emergency care, and surgery. Many of these illnesses and injuries are unforeseen and would be an unexpected cost.

Health

Without appropriate medical care, it would be impossible for many people to remain healthy. Medical care is increasingly expensive. Many people can reduce the amount of money they spend on health care each year by obtaining a health insurance plan and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including good diet and exercise habits.

How do I get health insurance?

Sometimes the process of obtaining health insurance can be so confusing that people don’t bother to get it at all. This can be a mistake, especially with the rising costs of health care. That is why we are dedicated to giving you the information that you need to make the right decisions.

Employment

Many people are lucky and receive health insurance coverage through their employer. This can even sway people’s decisions as they choose to pursue certain careers or job opportunities.

Individual plans

If you’re employer doesn’t offer health insurance, you will need to obtain individual health insurance for you and your family. More and more companies are beginning to offer this type of coverage as more people are starting their own businesses.

Make a list

Whether you are looking to select a plan through your employer or whether you are looking for an individual plan, when you are considering purchasing health insurance it is a good idea to make a list of your requirements. You need to consider cost, coverage, limitations and possibly adding additional coverage to existing plans.

Connect the dots

When you are choosing a plan, compare your list of requirements to a list of pros and cons for each available plan you are considering. By comparing your requirements with what is offered, you will be able to select the plan that is right for you.

Make sure that you spend the necessary time doing the proper research. At the crucial time when you need your health insurance, it will be too late.

Purchasing the right health insurance can be confusing. There are so many different types of coverage it can be difficult to purchase the right one. Here is a brief overview of different types of health insurance coverage to get you started.

HMO

HMO stands for Health Maintenance Organization and it is one of the most common forms of health insurance available today. Generally, cost is low with an HMO plan, however using an HMO plan can be confusing. It has many complicated use procedures.

FFS

An FFS plan is a Fee for Service plan. These plans are less common today, however, some health insurance companies still offer them. The benefit of this plan is your ability to choose your own physician or specialists. However, you will have to pay your own deductible and also costs are paid by you up front.

PPO

PPO stands for Preferred Provider Organization. A PPO uses a network and will offer you a list of physicians and hospitals you can access for service. You usually do not need a referral to see a specialist and you can see a doctor outside of the network, although it can cost more money. This plan is inappropriate for many people to purchase because it is more costly than other plans.

POS

POS stands for Point of Service Plan. A POS plan has a network, however it is usually more flexible when it comes to you selecting a family physician. This plan also concentrates more on preventative care than other plans. With this plan, you will have to choose a primary physician even if you rarely visit him or her and you will receive little reimbursement for visiting physicians outside of the network.

Before you purchase health insurance make sure that you know what you are paying for. Read the fine print and know about any other money that you will have to pay, such as deductables. Spend a lot of time on research before your purchase and it will pay off in benefits later!
